Projects from Staffordshire University
This page is for showcasing projects I worked on for my Staffordshire University Degree.
Year 6
Game Development Artifact
Dubbed 'Chroma Crypt', this project was made as my Games Design FYP (Final Year Project) Artifact. The pitch for this project was a combat/puzzle game that would flow together more seemlessly via using the puzzles' crystals as weapons. The struggle came from the lasers and their interaction with crystal hitboxes.
Year 6
Prototyping
This is a Prototype dubbed 'Steel Rocketeer', inspired by the Marvel Superhero, Iron Man. This was created in an attempt to replicate the feeling of high speed flight as shown in Iron Man (2008) and help refine the basis of a personal project's movement feel.
Year 6
Tool Development
In this module, I created three Editor Tools: A Level Tool for Rotating, Renaming, and Changing Meshes and Materials for Actors, a Weapon Customisation Tool for character creation (and potentially enemy equipment), and a Door Editor Tool to alleviate 'The Door Problem' of Game Design. All of these Tools have options for changing the colours of a material.
Year 6
"Gravity"
This project was made for Emergent Games Technologies. I wanted to test how to create gravity much like in the Super Mario Galaxy games. While I was incapable of altering static meshes, I could change the direction of gravity for actors such as the player.
Year 5
Realtime Technologies
Architectural Visualisation:
This medium is used to showcase potential architectural spaces, such as housing and shopping areas, and be able to adjust interior designs without wasting physical materials.
Automotive Visualisation:
This project was for creating an interactive experience to showcase an automobile's aesthetic and functions for a consummative level of understanding, also with customisable paint colours and cinematic camera work.
Year 5
2D Games Creation
This showcases my understanding of 2D Games Design and multitasking between two projects. One Game is designed in 2D, purely made for a pixelated and arcade feel. The second is 2.5D, using 2D Objects and orienting them in a 3D environment.
Year 4
Game Engines (Unreal Engine 5)
This was definitely one of my favourite modules during my first year of University. I was able to learn a great deal on Unreal Engine's Blueprinting, such as creating children, and the implementation of Event Dispatchers and Interfaces.
These two videos showcase the Levels I created within a given Framework, creating assets with what I was given and creating a Key Model when required.
During that first year, the modules were two-parters split between two semesters rather than being set within one of three for the later two years.
Year 4
Animation
Animation, more specifically Keyframe Animation, is something I liked immensely. While I found it quite time consuming, that's just how animation is. The Showreel demonstrates my first semester's Keyframe Animations, Posing, and uses of Lighting.
